Online Fundraising Ideas - Giving Day

How to conduct “Online Giving Days”?

Online Giving Day is a dedicated day where we push our potential donors to donate on a single day for a specific cause.

The most common online giving day is #GivingTuesday, which is mainly popular in US and also getting popular these days in India too. It is the Tuesday, which comes after Thanks Giving that is considered for raising funds for various charities/causes.

Either your NGO can participate and prepare for this #GivingTuesday or you can organize your own Online Giving day for your supporters.

Online Giving day, is a 24 hour donation drive where Non-profits try to raise as much as money as possible from its supporters.

To conduct this donation drive, a log of preparation is needed like digital promotions and advertising to make it effective. Reach out to your existing and new supporters through:

  • ·         Emails
  • ·         Social media
  • ·         SMS
  • ·         Publish on Website
  • ·         With videos

A complete digital outreach has to be done with information about the Giving day including the cause in detail that you are raising funds for, time/day, types of donation that you will accept and about the fund utilization. Also, be clear on how supporters can be involved to make this Giving day a successful event for your NGO.

Any Online Giving Day has to be energetic and fast-paced to raise money for the cause. Encourage and keep your donors consistently posted and push them to raise funds with their peers too. The preparation for this has to be well planned in advance and schedule the events on a calendar and follow the plan.

Why should NGOs use social media?

Why should NGOs use social media? Social media is one of the best ways to start connecting to people as social itself means “people” and we need people to begin for any NGO to work. Through social media, we can connect to our audience (be it, partners or donors). Social media creates a relationship between the donors and the NGO, unlike the website which acts as a notice board or journal. Social media helps in creating connections between the donor and getting feedback along with contributions for the causes too in terms of money and volunteers. As social media has become an integral part of the daily lives of all human beings, NGOs should not miss the chance to use them too for the causes and to raise funds. Important reasons for NGOs to be on Facebook Social media has occupied the majority of our lives today and especially after the pandemic, people’s life has become virtual and almost all activities happen online including connecting with family and friends to transacting fo...
